Instinctual

Sculpture, Installation, Taxidermy, Fiber
Instinctual exhibits Ash Albeser’s continued exploration of media, objects, and techniques in a sculptural installation. Albeser’s use of manufactured materials alongside natural objects and processes, creates tension between the object and the aura, with reference to archaic symbolism relating the egoic human to the instinctual animal. Red woven fabrics that encapsulate a mass-produced metal cage, taxidermy animals and skulls evoke an awareness of one’s own mortality in this multimedia installation.
